Project Background:
The Lanzhou-Urumqi High-speed Railway (Lanzhou-Urumqi Railway Second Double Track) reinforcement project is a comprehensive structural safety assurance project addressing extreme natural environments and geological disasters. Covering the entire 1,776-kilometer line across Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang provinces (autonomous regions), it targets core risks such as high-altitude frost heave, extreme winds, subgrade settlement, and strong earthquake damage. The project implemented customized reinforcement solutions in phases, undergoing three key stages: the first emergency response in 2016, major overhaul from 2018 to 2020, and post-earthquake restoration from 2022 to 2023. It has established a full-lifecycle safety protection system integrating "wind protection, frost prevention, earthquake resistance, and settlement control," setting a Chinese benchmark for high-speed railway reinforcement in challenging terrains worldwide.
