Project Background:
Weitang Middle School in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, is a public junior high school. Its predecessor was Weitang Middle School, founded in 1958. In 2002, the junior high school section was relocated to a new site and established as an independent institution, and it is now a key junior high school in the region. The school covers approximately 34,000 square meters, with a building area of 17,000 square meters and a green coverage rate of 47%. It currently has 24 classes, about 1,030 students, and 98 faculty members, with backbone teachers accounting for more than 23%. The school's motto is "Harmony and Integration, Upholding Tradition while Pursuing Innovation." It deeply explores the local "Pearl Culture" resources, builds the "Runzhu Ideological and Political Education" system, and creates a distinctive educational brand that integrates "knowledge, emotion, will, and action." In 2023, it completed an upgrade of standardized examination center equipment. In May 2024, it implemented a structural reinforcement project for its school buildings (with a budget of 3.387 million yuan) to ensure campus safety. In 2025, it launched the second phase of the "Pearl Curriculum Base" project, covering the cultural enhancement of teaching corridors, renovation of the Pearl Gymnasium, and equipment updates for the practice hall, promoting the simultaneous development of five areas of education. The school has jointly established the "Runzhu Ideological and Political Practice Base" with the School of Marxism at Soochow University, forming a new integrated model for ideological and political education across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. The 2025 freshman enrollment announcement has been released, and supporting services such as campus security and cafeteria distribution are being continuously optimized, making the school an important vehicle for promoting high-quality and balanced education in Xiangcheng District.
