Project Background:
The infrastructure capacity enhancement project at the Hubei Provincial Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine is a self-funded EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project approved by the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission (Approval No. E Fa Gai Shen Pi Fu Wu [2021] 125). Undertaken by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, the project launched in 2022 with a planned duration of 365 days. Centered on "enhancing diagnostic and treatment capabilities, optimizing the medical environment, and strengthening smart infrastructure," the project systematically implemented multi-dimensional upgrades: it comprehensively renovated the 35,118.89-square-meter Dexin Building, added 407 beds, reconfigured wards to primarily feature three-bed rooms, and simultaneously updated plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and medical gas systems. It also completed the renovation of low-voltage switchgear in the basements of the Dexin and Detai Buildings and laid power cables to key areas such as the Dekang Building and the hyperbaric oxygen chamber to ensure a secure power supply. Additionally, the project introduced 97 units of advanced equipment—including hyperbaric oxygen chambers and high-definition electronic gastrointestinal endoscopes—and installed a comprehensive pathology information management system. Concurrent upgrades were made to the medical data platform and the central server room's operations and maintenance system, with market research for annual maintenance services initiated for 2026. With a total investment exceeding RMB 120 million, the ward renovation project completed its filing and approval process in September 2025 and entered a phase balancing construction with operations in 2026; this marks the hospital's transition from hardware expansion to refined operational management, significantly boosting its comprehensive service capabilities and regional healthcare capacity.
