Nanjing Zhongshan Dock (also known as Zhongshan Wharf).

  • Project Location:

    Jiangsu

  • Project Background:

Nanjing Zhongshan Dock, located on the Xiaguan Riverside in Gulou District, Nanjing, was originally built in 1930. It was named to commemorate the crossing of the Yangtze River by Dr. Sun Yat-sen's coffin for its burial at Zhongshan Mausoleum, and it has a history of over 90 years. As a key water transportation hub connecting the north and south banks of the Yangtze River, serving daily commuting, tourism, and emergency transport, Zhongshan Dock handles a large daily passenger flow and has long operated under demanding conditions including frequent vessel berthing, dense foot traffic, and complex hydrological environments (high water levels, strong scouring, and alternating freeze-thaw cycles). To effectively ensure the safety of public water travel, preserve the cultural memory of Sun Yat-sen, and support Nanjing's "One River, Two Banks" integrated development strategy and the construction of a world-class riverside vitality zone, systematic structural safety assessment and scientific, precise maintenance and reinforcement of Zhongshan Dock are urgently required.
