Project Background:
The Shanghai History Museum (currently the Shanghai History Museum / Shanghai Revolutionary History Museum, located at No. 325 Nanjing West Road in the former Shanghai Race Club building) is an outstanding modern protected building of significant historical, cultural, and architectural value. Its original design load standards were relatively low, and its seismic fortification capacity is insufficient. Over long-term use, due to factors such as environmental temperature and humidity fluctuations, groundwater erosion, surrounding subway vibrations, and early improper renovations, structural issues have emerged in the building. To effectively ensure the structural safety, preservation of historical features, and sustainable operation of public cultural service functions of this municipal-level cultural heritage unit, while also responding to the national policy direction of "strengthening the systematic protection of historical and cultural heritage" and "promoting preventive protection and adaptive reuse of cultural relic buildings," it is urgent to carry out scientific and prudent structural testing, assessment, and reinforcement engineering under the strict adherence to the *Law on the Protection of Cultural Relics* and the *Regulations of Shanghai on the Protection of Historical and Cultural Areas and Outstanding Historical Buildings*.
