Project Background:
Green Line Shipping Building (originally named "Green Line Shipping Company Building," also known as "Shanghai Port Authority Building") is located at No. 18 Zhongshan Dong Yi Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai. Since its completion, the building has undergone multiple functional changes, serving as an office for shipping companies, the Shanghai Harbor Superintendency Bureau, and now as a high-end commercial and cultural mixed-use space. With continuous functional upgrades—including the addition of catering kitchens, heavy equipment, dense foot traffic, and MEP system renovations—the original century-old structural system has exhibited significant performance degradation under the combined effects of long-term loads, environmental erosion, and material aging. Through scientific and prudent reinforcement and renovation, the Green Line Shipping Building will, while ensuring the safety of the cultural heritage structure, continue to rejuvenate as a Bund cultural landmark, exemplifying Shanghai's exemplary value of "upholding tradition while innovating, and activating heritage through preservation" in historic building conservation and urban renewal.
