Project Background:
Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, as a core aviation hub in the western wing of the Yangtze River Delta and a key infrastructure project in Anhui Province's "14th Five-Year Plan," faces the dual challenges of special geological constraints and the need for upgrading existing facilities as it moves toward an annual passenger throughput of 40 million. The expansive unsaturated expansive soil widely distributed across the airport site exhibits significant water-absorbing swelling and water-loss shrinkage characteristics, which can easily lead to uneven foundation settlement. Combined with structural durability degradation due to increasing operational years, this poses potential impacts on the stability of airfield area pavements, the structural safety of the terminal building, and the operational resilience of the integrated transportation hub. To ensure the safety of air transportation, support the commissioning of Terminal 2 and the integrated "air-rail intermodal" construction, the airport has launched a comprehensive engineering reinforcement project across the entire site, adhering to the core principles of "geological adaptation, intelligent empowerment, safety and efficiency," aiming to create a model for airport reinforcement adapted to special geological conditions.
