Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the China Civil Engineering Society has centered on the main battlefield of engineering construction. It has advanced scientific research, boosted academic exchanges, cultivated scientific and technological talents, and carried out international cooperation, making important contributions to the scientific and technological progress of engineering construction in China.
On July 10, 2023, the China Civil Engineering Society issued a notice approving the establishment of a branch under its auspices—the Advanced Engineering Materials Branch (hereinafter referred to as the Branch), supported by the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Professor Yue Qingrui, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, was appointed as the leader of the preparatory group to organize the establishment work of the Branch.
The Advanced Engineering Materials Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society aims to gather and integrate industrial resources for the R&D and application of advanced engineering materials. It strives to promote the in-depth integrated development of innovation chains and industrial chains linking materials and civil engineering sectors, advance the research and application of advanced engineering materials, material-structure integration, and structure-function integration, and break through core bottlenecks restricting the R&D, popularization and application of advanced engineering materials.

Election

Speech by Yi Jun

At the unveiling ceremony, Yi Jun congratulated the establishment of the Advanced Engineering Materials Branch. He stated that the development and application of advanced engineering materials are key drivers of civil engineering technological progress. He urged the branch to pursue innovation, leverage the society’s resources to conduct high-level research on civil engineering materials, tackle core technical bottlenecks via material innovation, and drive industry-wide technological transformation.

Speech by Zhang Dalin

Zhang Dalin expressed sincere gratitude to all sectors for supporting USTB and its civil engineering discipline. He said advanced engineering materials underpin modern infrastructure and major national strategic projects. The new branch is timely, significant and far-reaching. As its supporting institution, USTB will fully back the branch’s work.

Speech by Yue Qingrui

Yue Qingrui said advances in engineering materials fuel civil engineering innovation. Under the society, the branch will unite experts and researchers, host seminars on hot topics, boost exchanges and cooperation, serve national strategies and advance China’s civil engineering.
